Display Hidden Files and Folders

Issue:
Hidden files and folders and protected operating system files are not displayed in the User Interface - e.g. in a file manager.

File Dependencies:
N/A - None

Registry Settings/Dependencies:

reg.exe batch file commands -

.reg file (import using regedit.exe) -

OfflineReg batch file commands -

It is not clear whether the SuperHidden registry value is actually required - see here. It may be required in some operating systems - adding it does not result in any issues.

Missing Directory Tree

Issue:
The directory tree is not displayed (e.g. in a file manager) -

Fix:
Add a Desktop directory to the %UserProfile% path. In a standard WinPE the %UserProfile% path is X:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Desktop

With %UserProfile%\Desktop folder fix -

Remove Shell Folders

Issue:
A range of shell folders that have no purpose or function in a Windows Preinstallation Environment are displayed in file managers -

Registry Settings/Dependencies:

.reg file (import using regedit.exe) -

OfflineReg batch file commands -

Alternatively, delete the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace" key. E.g. using OfflineReg -

Remove Libraries

The Control Panel is displayed in a file manager, but does not function in a Windows Preinstallation Environment.
